Hellebore Drawing

This is the first piece of finished work from my residency at Plas Cadnant this season as Artist in the Garden.  The Hellebore were on display during March and early April and I was fortunate to capture them while I was at the gardens for the Anglesey Arts Weeks events.  The colour close up in the bottom right is created using watercolours while the remainder is drawn using fine tipped pens.

The detail is a bit obsessive but that is exactly what I like!  The complexity of the structures as they are rendered in line is my intention.  Overall I am really pleased with this drawing and am hoping to follow it up soon with a finished magnolia drawing and am working on a peony woodblock print.
